The desire to play with one's fears rather than be enslaved by them, transforming one's nightmares into a better world to live in and draw inspiration from. A dark, sexy, and alluring world that entices us to step out of our comfort zone and don a new skin to find a different and improved version of ourselves: "Incubi" is Beatrice Lambertini's new single, and it leaves us breathless. The familiar suggestions we are accustomed to from the Bolognese singer transform throughout the song, with each beat becoming increasingly powerful, ultimately culminating in a hypnotic dance that reinterprets the rhythms of Caribbean music in a northern, dark, and dreamy atmosphere. I-i-i-i-incubi: a dancehall party organized by Tim Burton, the theme song of a TV series, a track you can listen to and dance to in a nightclub, but above all, a vision of Beatrice like you've never heard before. Even the style of writing changes: among the references, we find those that reinterpret horror literature with an urban twist, such as "I'm the Kenwood of zombies," as well as those directed at showbiz figures, like "I bring popcorn and Crime&Comedy," referring to Clara Campi and Marco Champier's podcast, "crime told by two comedians." Beatrice isn't a comedian, but by making us laugh and having fun herself, she welcomes us into her own fears. And this is precisely the underlying vision of "Incubi," that of mixing fun with noir. Artistic production by Gerolamo Sacco aims to play with Beatrice's notes as if they were brushstrokes on a rhythmic canvas that could go on for hours, inexorably, in a loop. "Incubi" has been a journey, a process. At first, I wanted to talk about my nightmares, my fears. It happens to everyone more or less to have very imaginative dreams, and I am one of those people. But the more material I gathered to write, the more I wanted to play with these fears I had, and so I went beyond them, sought a free, magical space. In the end, only the music of these fears remained.
