La Papessa is a musical story set in the evocative landscapes of Alto Sebino and Valle Camonica.
The mysterious atmosphere and melancholic beauty of these places serve as both backdrop and inspiration for a six-chapter (six-track) psychological thriller in music.
The true protagonist is sound itself: an intimate felt piano merges with the expressive possibilities of an MPE synthesizer, creating a rich and layered sonic world through overdubbing techniques.
The compositional approach aims to evoke an ethereal, timeless sensation, where melody, rhythm, and harmony blend in a completely new way. Timbre and sound quality take center stage, offering a listening experience where the music becomes a true sound painting.
It is the soundtrack to an imaginary film, a psychological thriller that needs no images.
By listening to La Papessa from start to finish, you’ll feel as if you’ve watched a movie—with characters and places—told entirely through music.
Corrado Saija is a composer, musician, and sound artist who explores the boundary between music and new technologies.
His background is rooted in the tradition of electroacoustic music and focuses on the relationship between noise and musical composition.
Graduated in Electronic Music and New Technologies from the "G. Verdi" Conservatory in Milan, Saija combines his classical training—originally developed through jazz piano studies—with a deep interest in the creative possibilities offered by electronics, live electronics, and sound manipulation.
His music, ranging from experimental electronics to easy listening, finds its fullest expression in relation to visual imagery and multimedia arts, leading him to compose for theater, film, and sound installations.
Through his research, Corrado Saija investigates the evocative potential of sound and its ability to create true "sound sculptures," exploring genres such as ambient, smooth jazz, and exotica.
